DATAFIST PUNCHES AT FACTS (MONSTER MONPIECE CENSORSHIP)
For those of you who don’t know a game called Monster Monpiece will be coming out soon and 40 out of 300 cards have been censored for graphic content. As per usual American and European fans have shown concern, anger, feelings of insult, and just good old fashion rage.
Now we have had several incidents of this fashion in the past the main one that comes to mind is the Yakuza 3 American Release. Fans were angry because content was taken out due to some graphic nature and some things were taking out because the Japanese developers didn’t think we would get the point of the content, or find the content appealing.
The difference in these two cases is Yakuzas content was taken out due to the difference in cultures. Monster Monpieces content was taken out on the case of cultural laws. In other words some cards appear to have underage girls on them in Graphic clothing and in the rub down content.
Now while I do support the no censorship on this game (mainly because I don’t like to know that a game has been altered because of some element outside of the gaming world) I must understand the plight of Idea Factory and Compile Heart. It was either censor it and sell it or not censor it it gets an AO rating and would be almost impossible to sell. I say sell the game.
What do you think? Did Idea Factory make a right call? Would you go the extra mile to buy the game if it was AO?
DataFist: The Things We Do For Monster Girls
The gaming world has advanced very rapidly over the years and the last 5 years are just colossal years for games. With anything that gets big in society there starts to be these set trends that change annually. If you don’t know what I mean allow me to explain.
2009-2010 The trends start when Ryu and the street fighter clan re-emerges in there second 3d game editions (Street Fighter EX series was the first) with Street Fighter IV (4). If you think Ryu rocked the scene with his Hadokens it didn’t end there. The Mishima family made there return in Tekken six adding a beat em up element to the juggling mayhem that is “King of the Iron Fist”. The Hadokens and Mishimas were quickly joined by the loved cast of BLAZEBLUE. It gained a quick and deep following putting it in the big leagues quickly. FEEL THE POWER OF MAGNETISM!!!
2010-2011 we put down our fists and picked up our guns quite a few times we were either plowing through foreign Resistance in black ops, returning to bad company with battlefield, trying not to shoot out the glass in rapture (Bioshock 2), surviving the wasteland in Fallout new Vegas, and finally the greatest shooting game in the world (arguably) made its return PERFECT DARK!!
2011-2012 once we had our fill of lead we started to adventure in endless lands. Getting lost in Skyrim taking arrows to the knee, Joining the Saints and talking over Stillwater (Saints Row: The Third), Take up a silver blade as The Witcher (2), and even embody the Capped Crusader in Arkam city.
2012-2013 was simple. It was the year of sequels witch isn’t bad but from a guys who plays almost every thing i would really like some new IP’s (Intellectual Properties) please.
2014 Is here now there are several new consoles out. The PS4, Xbox one (confusing title). the ouya, and coming soon the many forms of the steam box. So we have Such potential sitting in our living rooms I really hope the Developers take full advantage of that. I also hope they take some risks to give us new IP’s because the new line up seems to be nothing but new IP’s and Remakes. I hope It stays at least 60/40
What do you think this year holds for us gamers?
